Wow - what a trip down memory lane. I think this was played in 93. I actually felt a bit of nostalgia watching it. BTW - it's hard to believe this is a cam copy - it looks pretty high quality to me. Sound is good. I'd guess this is a real copy from in house.

Would he turn from someone who has lived his/her life in love and mercy, yet did not have a real chance to learn about Him? I don't believe so.
Great - but as it stands - you've had to reconcile that belief - with statements in the Bible that pretty much state the opposite. (I'm too lazy to quote them here - but you can look at BrotherDan's posts and I'm sure you'll find them). JWs have that same belief/reconciliation too. Moreover, the multiple Christians right here on this forum that hardly ever agree about Christ but all claim to share the same faith, they hardly provide any "real chance" of learning about him either.
I mean it's really not any different than this quote from The Life of Brian
Brian: I am NOT the Messiah!
Arthur: I say you are Lord, and I should know. I've followed a few.I'm sure sincere muslims, hindus, buddhists, and Jews have a way of reconciling salvation for those not part of their group too. I'm also sure that it is as sincere and backed up by old books, just like your beliefs as well.
In the end - I'm glad your personal beliefs are not as hard-core as other Christians on this forum. While it doesn't appear with any amount of certainity (nothing more than just a personal hunch) that non-Christians have an absolute sure hope, it's great that some Christians patronizingly admit they're cool too as long they're nice.
Now, lets stop getting off topic here. This thread was about loving our favorite JW enemy - debator. And in case any lurker on the outside might question the Christians love for their enemy - this is kind of a tough love. A verbal stoning as it were.

Ooohhh Oooh - Can I play too? I love this game. I believe it's called "random quotes that mean nothing to most of the world" with the subtitle: "and subject to wide interpretaion to those who claim to find them meaningful".
For your quotes I see you chose Paul and Matthew. I'm going to go with a more modern philospher - Zoolander:
"Words can only hurt you if you try to read them. Don’t play their game."
"I’m pretty sure there’s more to life than being really, really ridiculously good looking, and I plan on finding out what that is."
and finally - for the most meaningful quote of all, sure to change everybody's life, especially non-stop scripture quoting bible thumpers:
"There was a moment last night, when she was sandwiched between the two Finnish dwarves and the Maori tribesmen, where I thought, Wow, I could really spend the rest of my life with this woman."

TD Said - The JW's I know who are sci-fi fans and movie watchers have their own take on films like this and it is the exact opposite --That they are the ones who are not controlled and everyone else in the "World" is.
I agree. I remember I saw the Matrix as a believing JW at the time, and I thought JWs were the ones who knew the truth and that the rest of the world was in a matrix like state. Controlled by Satan of course.
The one thing that resonates with me the most in Inception, is that an idea that one believes he discovers on his own - sticks better than one that appears to be planted. Many on this forum want to almost force their JW family members to look into all the discoveries made about the org: it's history, doctrines, changes, etc. However, most discover that rarely works - and actually could have the opposite effect.
In the movie Inception, they had to go deep into the subject's mind and were never 100% certain what he would find in the vault. They had to learn about his background and emotional makeup and then put him in a situation that would lead him to his own realization.
I think the best way to help JWs is to go about in a similar manner. For me, I never went online to apostate sites nor read CoC nor did anything else JWs were warned against. The idea I discovered on my own came from going about my life as a good JW and trying to give an informal witness. My potential convert brought up a point that the WT could not refute - at least not logically.
So, I've learned to use that experience to potentially help my loved ones come to a realization in a similar manner. It takes time. You have to architect their environment. For example, if it's your wife, you may have to slowly build up a new social network for her outside of the JWs. Or you may have to step it up as a father and get real extra involved with the children and their school activities - more so than you were when you were a JW. Basically create a new environment, that is very real, pleasant, and quite the opposite of what the JWs tell you life is like outside of their world.
You have to study them and learn what makes them tick. It may not be the same thing that it was for you or me. Perhaps it's more emotional. But whatever it is, they should make the ultimate discovery themselves.

Keep on the Watch brochure, open to the page on child molesting priests - with a couple print-outs of some news reports about JWs arrests for child abuse.

Take the Kids Exposed to JW Stuff to the Disney Movie, "TANGLED." Great Message For Them
by OnTheWayOut ini took my wife to this movie and pried her a bit on the way home to make her think about how sometimes the people we trust are our enemies.. the disney movie, tangled, is their spin on the repunzel story.
i'll try not to spoil their movie and still make the point of why this is a great movie to take a jw to, the older and closer to adulthood the better.
you total adults with jw adult loved ones should drag them to it.. the villain takes repunzel away from her life (as a baby) and keeps her in "the tower" for her own evil purposes.

Thanks, OTWO, I think these kind of films and books that have nothing to do with JWs but present a similar concept will resonate with people better than if we tried to get them to visit this forum or read CoC. Good idea.

If you're looking for clarity, you'll probably be quite disappointed with the end result of such a site.
If you're looking for crazyiness, you'll probably be quite satisfied.

Send a Christmas Gift to a Kid in Malawi
by SixofNine incame across this charity today, thought i'd share it with the forum.
if you're like me, there is more happiness in giving than in receiving brownie points and brownie noses from fellow jw's and elders because you hand wrote antagonizing form letters to malawi authorities who knew that your form letter was from an americanjehovah's witness.
to a student in malawi.

JYD - that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
First off, few if any former JWs are PISSED OFF that other former JWs do anything. The truth is, no one gives a $hit what you do.
But if you want to post it up here like a trophy - you'll get varying comments. Most of which are meaningless passing thoughts by a very few former JWs that utter them. If you're insistent that others 'follow your lead' or join your little crusade, then yeah, the lack of followers that you pick up may seem like an insult to you.
I'll even say it can provide some entertainment value, but if someone wants to spend their post JW life, doing the same thing they already wasted years doing - preaching..well good luck with that.
Get over it. Very few former JWs move on from having some old men tell them to go and preach - only to listen to some other grumpier douchebags tell them to go and preach again, just a different message.
When I see someone like Danny Haszard, I'm reminded of the importance of letting go. If you want to send a message to JWs - go out and live a great life. Do good things. But most importantly, if you don't move on, you'll always be identified as a JW in one way or another.
Of course, I suppose, it's also good to watch as an occassional poster can't get past their bitterness. It's a reminder for the rest of us, that if we're not careful, we could end up as foolish as you. You have to ask yourself (we all do) - how much time did you waste with JWs before? And how much time will you waste with them now?
